Asmat Tribe From Black Gold Island

Asmat is a tribe in Papua. Asmat tribe known as the unique wooden carvings. Asmat population is divided into two, namely those who live in coastal areas and those living in the countryside. These two populations differ from each other in the way of life, social structure and ritual. The next coastal population is divided into two parts namely bisman tribes residing in between Sinesty river and Nin river and Simai tribe.

now in a village inhabited by approximately 100 to 1000 people. every village had one house flunky, and many family homes. flunky house used for ceremonial and religious ceremonies. family houses inhabited by two to three families, which have a bathroom and the kitchen itself.

Asmat carvings to be a link between contemporary life with the life of the ancestors. in each dwelling carved image and respect for their ancestors filled with Asmat greatness.

It is possible because they know the three concepts of the world: Amat ow capinmi (life today), Dampu ow campinmi (spirits of the death) and Safar (heaven)
